The root of all of Shadow Link's problems is that he is unhappy. He is unhappy because he is not Link, and he is unhappy because Link never thinks to look back at him. He has been with Link his entire life, from the moment he was born, and yet Link barely even knows he exists. I would be unhappy, too.
The way Shadow copes with this unhappiness is through violence and bravado. He has to prove that he's just as important and as good as Link.
... No, he has to prove that he's even more important and better than Link.
Maybe then, Link would have to look at him. And he'd be sorry. He'd be sorry for ever ignoring him. What a joyous day that would be!
But is that really going to be enough to make Shadow Link happy?
I don't think so, at least not forever. In fact, I don't think Shadow Link could ever be happy so long as Link's attention and love is not freely given to him by Link. In The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures, Shadow Link is a manifestation of Ganondorf's hatred for Link as well as the darkness within Link. This means that Shadow, by virtue of existing, must be full of hatred, sadness, pride, and anger. He is Link's sadness, pride, and anger. He literally cannot be happy so long as he exists
... in a physical form.
This leads me to the end of the manga, where Shadow Link disappears after breaking the Dark Mirror and is seen as Link's literal shadow later, sentient but bound to the Dark World forever. WILL WRITE THE REST OF THIS LATER!!!
